Mark Howard Alton - Lord of Greens Norton - Biography

Mark was indentured as a Craftsman and Technician in Toolmaking, before entering the profession of Mechanical Engineering for design, manufacturing and tool research, moving into procurement for agricultural vehicles, building products and automotive components and specialising in parts procurement, capital equipment and civil works. Qualifications included the Institute of Production Engineers, European Engineer Status with FEANI and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

He is married to Lorraine and has two sons. Born near Doncaster and previously living near Washington, Tyne and Wear and in Milton Keynes.

Mark became Lord of the Manor of Greens Norton near Towcester in Northamptonshire in 2007 and became a Member of the Manorial Society of Great Britain thereafter. He obtained land in the Manor and a shareholding interest in the Butchers Arms – the local pub in the village.

Mark has the Freedom of the City of London and became a member of the Guild of Freemen of London. In 2017, he was elected a Liveryman and enclothed within the Worshipful Company of Loriners’ within the City of London. With this connection he joined the prestigious and premier livery dining lodge, Lora et Aries meeting at Innholders Hall in College Street London.

He is a Free Tenant and Juror at the Court Leet of the Guildable Manor of Southwark promoting civic pride in the borough founded by King Alfred circa 880 AD and a member of the Bishopsgate Ward Club founded in 1790 and active for the good fellowship, interests and traditions within the inner circle of city life.

He is a Knight Templar Priest; a Christian order of chivalry and militarism and a member within the Commemorative Order of St Thomas of Acon, an English chivalry being sanctioned by Richard Coeur de Lion.

He is an ordained Reverend Deacon within the Catholic faith and licensed as clergy with the full benefit of ecclesiastical title within the Holy See of Antioch for the Province of Buckinghamshire.

As a Liveryman in London, he was invited to be a member of Brigantes, the Association of City of London Liverymen in the North of England and later joined The Order of St. Stanislas focusing on chivalric and charitable works.

He is a member of the Aylesbury Club and a lifetime member of the National Trust and English Heritage and a promoter and subscriber to several books.

He possesses a hereditary Coat of Arms and Banner recognised within the College of Arms with the motto of Wisdom, Truth and Glory.

Interests are fine dining, wine and whisky, antiques, motor bikes, architectural follies, museum art with a fitness regime including gym work, meditation and yoga.
